Endodontics

Restore what is yours.

If you’re experiencing tooth pain, sensitivity, or a dental infection, endodontic treatment — also known as a root canal — may be the solution that saves your natural tooth.

At Nüvodent in Antwerp, we perform root canal treatments with precision, comfort, and a clear focus on long-term health.

What is a root canal?

A root canal removes infection or inflamed nerve tissue from inside the tooth, allowing the tooth to be preserved instead of extracted.
The canals are cleaned, disinfected, and sealed to prevent bacteria from returning.

This treatment is recommended for:

  • Severe toothache or sensitivity

  • Dental abscesses or swelling

  • Cracked or traumatised teeth

  • Deep cavities reaching the nerve

Why choose Nüvodent for endodontics?

Comfort-first experience

Treatments are performed under local anaesthesia to ensure a pain-free, calm environment. You can bring your own music with headphones to make you feel more relaxed.

Advanced diagnostics

We use digital imaging for precise assessment and magnification for the best possible treatment results.

Preservation-focused approach

Our goal is to save your natural tooth whenever possible and maintain the balance of your bite.

Expert restorative follow-up

After a root canal, the tooth must be restored with a crown or onlay for long-term success. We can guide you through the full journey — from diagnosis to final restoration.

  • Sharp or lingering pain

  • Sensitivity to hot or cold

  • Pain when chewing

  • Swelling or abscess

Your treatment journey

Consultation and Diagnostics

Verification of the tooth’s condition using X-rays, percussion tests, and vitality tests. Creating a plan to preserve your tooth.

The Treatment

  • Anesthesia: Administration of local anesthesia to numb the tooth and surrounding area, ensuring the procedure is painless.

  • Isolation & Access: We use a rubber dam (a protective sheet) to isolate the tooth and keep it sterile. A small opening is made in the crown to access the pulp chamber.

  • Cleaning & Shaping: The infected or inflamed nerve tissue (pulp) is removed. The canals are cleaned, disinfected, and shaped using precise manual and rotary instruments.

  • Filling: The clean canals are filled with an inert biocompatible material (Gutta-percha) and a sealer to prevent bacteria from re-entering.

  • Temporary Restoration: A temporary filling is placed.

Permanent Restoration

A crucial step because the tooth must be permanently restored (usually with a crown or onlay) shortly after to prevent fracture.
