Endodontics
Restore what is yours.
Includes services such as root canal treatments and internal bleaching.
If you’re experiencing tooth pain, sensitivity, or a dental infection, endodontic treatment — also known as a root canal — may be the solution that saves your natural tooth.
At Nüvodent in Antwerp, we perform root canal treatments with precision, comfort, and a clear focus on long-term health.
A root canal removes infection or inflamed nerve tissue from inside the tooth, allowing the tooth to be preserved instead of extracted.
The canals are cleaned, disinfected, and sealed to prevent bacteria from returning.
This treatment is recommended for:
Severe toothache or sensitivity
Dental abscesses or swelling
Cracked or traumatised teeth
Deep cavities reaching the nerve
Benefits of endodontic treatment include:
Relief from tooth pain
Removal of infection
Preservation of the natural tooth
Protection of neighbouring teeth
Restoration of normal chewing function
Long-term stability with proper restoration
What to expect
1. Consultation and Diagnostics
Verification of the tooth’s condition using X-rays, percussion tests, and vitality tests. Creating a plan to preserve your tooth.
2. The Treatment
Anesthesia: Administration of local anesthesia to numb the tooth and surrounding area, ensuring the procedure is painless.
Isolation & Access: We use a rubber dam (a protective sheet) to isolate the tooth and keep it sterile. A small opening is made in the crown to access the pulp chamber.
Cleaning & Shaping: The infected or inflamed nerve tissue (pulp) is removed. The canals are cleaned, disinfected, and shaped using precise manual and rotary instruments.
Filling: The clean canals are filled with an inert biocompatible material (Gutta-percha) and a sealer to prevent bacteria from re-entering.
Temporary Restoration: A temporary filling is placed.
3. Permanent Restoration
A crucial step because the tooth must be permanently restored (usually with a crown or onlay) shortly after to prevent fracture.
