General dentistry
Good care begins with a solid foundation
Accessible preventive care for everyone. Includes periodic exams, cleanings, tooth extraction, periodontology and pediatric dentistry.
Healthy teeth don't happen by accident. They're the result of regular check-ups, attention to detail, and a dentist who knows you. At Nüvodent, we take care of the everyday dentistry you rely on — from your six-monthly check-up to a filling you barely notice. In English, French or Dutch, at the location that suits you best.
What is general dentistry?
General dentistry is the care of your teeth in daily life: check-ups, professional cleanings, fillings, and advice to prevent problems. Your general dentist is your regular point of contact — comparable to a GP, but for your mouth.
When more specialised care is needed (a root canal, an implant, or orthodontics, for instance), we refer you internally to a colleague within our multidisciplinary team. Your file stays in one place, and you keep seeing familiar faces.
What happens during a check-up?
A visit usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. We work at an unhurried pace and explain each step before we do it — especially important for those who need a little time to settle into the chair.
1. Catching up and medical history
We ask how you've been, what medication you may be taking, and what has changed since your last visit. Certain conditions and medications affect your oral health — we want to know before we begin.
2. Thorough examination
We examine your teeth, gums, tongue and cheek lining. We check for early cavities, gum irritation, the state of existing fillings or crowns, and routinely screen for anything less obvious.
3. Digital X-rays (if needed)
Not every visit requires an X-ray. When we do take one, we use digital equipment that uses up to 90% less radiation than conventional X-rays. The dose is comparable to a short flight. The image appears instantly on screen, so we can review it with you.
4. Professional cleaning
Our dental hygienist removes plaque and tartar — the hard deposits that a toothbrush alone can't reach. We then polish the teeth, which helps slow the build-up of new plaque. For many patients, this is the most visibly satisfying part of the visit.
5. Personal advice and plan
Finally, we discuss what we've found. If everything is in order, we book your next check-up. If something needs attention, we explain your treatment options with a transparent estimate of cost and time. You're always the one who decides.
When should you book an appointment?
For routine check-ups, we recommend every six months.
There are also signs you shouldn't wait on:
Toothache that persists or returns at night
Sensitivity to hot, cold or sweet that doesn't settle on its own
Bleeding gums when brushing or flossing
A loose tooth or one that seems to be shifting position
Swelling in the mouth, jaw or face
A broken or knocked-out tooth — call us right away, time is critical
A white or red patch in your mouth that hasn't cleared within two weeks
When in doubt: give us a call. We'd rather help you once too often than miss a problem.
What's different at Nüvodent
Digital where it makes sense. Intraoral scanners instead of impression material in your mouth. Digital X-rays with minimal radiation. Your file always accessible to every member of your care team.
All specialties under one roof. Root canals, orthodontics, implantology, paediatric dentistry — no referrals to unfamiliar practices, just a colleague down the corridor.
Multilingual team. At every location, we help you in English, French or Dutch. Some colleagues speak additional languages — just ask.
Time for those who need it. Prefer to ease in slowly? Let us know when booking. We'll plan extra time and walk you through each step.
Transparent on costs. For any treatment beyond the standard check-up, you receive a written quote in advance. No surprises afterwards.
Costs and reimbursement
A standard check-up and cleaning is one of the most accessible forms of dental care. Most of the cost is reimbursed by the Belgian health insurance fund (mutualiteit), provided your coverage is up to date.
For additional treatments (fillings, crowns, cosmetic care), we'll provide a clear quote in advance. Our reception team is happy to help with questions about reimbursement or supplementary insurance.

Your Smile. Your Story.
We always are welcoming new patients.
Our multidisciplinary team is ready for every aspect of your oral health.
